The Last Real Summer
The Last Real Summer is a memory play. Elizabeth Wharton, a recently widowed doctor, takes us on a reflective journey back to her youth in rural Alberta, as it was during the early years of World War II. As she recounts her story, and we meet the teenage Lizzie and her parents, Elizabeth’s thoughts often linger on Lizzie’s encounters and relationship with young Doug Cameron.
This moving and beautifully written Canadian play, centred around two young lives, is a perfect fit for the intimate Firehall Theatre.
