Since onsite programming can’t happen this year, the Stratford Festival has developed a number of virtual programs for young people in Grades 7-8 and Grades 9-12. Their hope is that this programming will provide the opportunity for learning, play, joy and connection during this uncertain time.
These programs require no experience and all are welcome. Bursaries are available; priority will be given to IBPOC youth and those participating for the first time in Stratford Festival programming.
The Shakespeare programs provide participants with the opportunity to develop their performance skills through breath, voice, text and movement. Taught by a professional actor, participants will read in its entirety, learn and perform excerpts from selected Shakespeare’s classics through individual and ensemble-based exercises.
Musical Theatre Program
The Musical Theatre programs provide participants with the opportunity to develop their performance skills with a focus on song and dance. Taught by professional musical theatre artists, participants will learn and perform excerpts from selected musicals through individual and ensemble-based exercises focused on voice and choreography.
Discover creative playwriting techniques to express your original ideas. Guided by a professional playwright, you’ll experiment with different writing exercises, styles and genres in order to bring your script from page to stage. Each program culminates in a staged reading of participants’ original work by members of the Stratford Festival acting company.
