Description

This 5-hour immersive workshop introduces core principles of stage intimacy, consent-based practice, and physical storytelling. Designed for actors, directors, and movement practitioners, it combines discussion, guided exercises, and embodied practice to build confidence, clarity, and trust when working with touch and expressive intimacy on stage.

Participants begin with a gentle ensemble warm-up focused on awareness and connection, followed by an introduction to the role of the intimacy director and key concepts of consent, communication, and professional boundaries. Through structured exercises, participants will practice tools such as pause/reset techniques, clear openings and closings, and developing a shared language for staging touch and high-stakes relationships.

The workshop emphasizes boundary-setting, navigating varying intensities of contact, and advocating for oneself within a collaborative rehearsal space.

This workshop does not certify participants as Intimacy Directors. Instead, it provides artists with tools for physical storytelling while supporting the creation of trauma-informed, braver, and safer spaces for stage work.
