Celebrate the coming of fall with The Tanya Wills Quartet!
Join us in the beautiful Concert Hall at Victoria Hall for memorable evening of jazz and blues. One night only – Saturday, September 10, at 7:30pm.
Singer/songwriter Tanya Wills has been a vocalist with many big bands and has sung everything from swing to blues and jazz. Known not only for her dynamic performance, but also as a great vocal technician, Tanya has a background in Music Theatre and has studied classically.
She brings her sensual and evocative sound to the stage with three of her favourite gentlemen – master musicians, Bill Bridges, Ron Johnston, and Kevin Coady.
Bill Bridges is one of the most sought after arrangers of symphonic music in Canada. Bill has played for such artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Petula Clarke, Eartha Kitt, Vic Damone, Tony Bennett, and Lena Horne.
Ron Johnston has been professionally performing and recording with a number of different groups since 1971. Ron has also appeared in TV shows and Films as a musician extra, including being a main band member in the Oscar winning film “Chicago”. He was one of the original members of the well known Hard Bop band “Kollage”.
Kevin Coady hails from Newfoundland, where he began a love affair with things that make noise at an early age. He hasn’t stopped since, experimenting with the textures of percussion and playing with Big Rude Jake, Jack Zorawski and Joel Miller. He studied music with Andre White at McGill University and has performed at the prestigious Montreal Jazz Festival and the Sound Symposium in St. John’s. Kevin is interested in time travel, perpetual motion (it’s what he does best) and tricycles.
