Matt Kowalyk, artistic director of the Summer Shorts Festival, and Jack Boyagian, president and artistic director of Northumberland Players, were recently interviewed on “Speaking of Theatre” on Northumberland 89.7.
Matt speaks about the origins of the festival, which is rooted in the values of fringe festivals and was spawned from an earlier virtual performance of “The Importance of Being Earnest” by In Absentia Theatre (many of the performers and directors are Northumberland Players alumni).
Jack speaks about what the Summer Shorts Festival means to the Players community; as he puts it, “to stop [because of COVID-19] was unbearable.”
The great thing about a virtual festival is that we are not constrained by geography – if you are interested in directing or acting, no matter where you are, submit a show or an audition! You have until June 20 – don’t wait too long!
