Catherine Holland plays the iconic Mrs. Robinson in the upcoming production of The Graduate. We caught up with her for a quick chat.
“Playing such an iconic role as Mrs. Robinson has been a thrill for me,” Catherine says. The role comes with some infamy and expectations, but director Jack Boyagian encouraged Catherine to put her own spin on it. She adds, “I’ve loved every minute of it!”
In performing The Graduate as a staged reading, Catherine says that “the focus is more on character development and voice without the distraction of thinking about blocking, movement and props. It is actually quite freeing to just let go and immerse yourself in the character.”
We’re so excited to be back on stage, and Catherine shares this excitement: “it’s very exciting to be part of the re-launch of theatre, particularly in an outdoor venue where everyone feels safe and comfortable, and in a beautiful setting down by the waterfront in Cobourg. The best part of this whole experience for me is to be with people again; laughing and having fun and hopefully our audience will feel the same!”
Make sure to catch Catherine and the rest of the great cast in The Graduate, playing at the Cobourg Yacht Club July 30 – August 8.
