Thirty years after writing and performing my first one-woman show, I am thrilled to present the world premiere of my fifth show, Void? What Void (Diary of an Empty Nester) at the Firehall Theatre April 5, 6, 7 & 12, 13, 14th, 2024.
Being a part of the Northumberland Players family for the past 22 years has been a true privilege. I’ve had the opportunity to grow and learn as a performer and director. The Players have always supported me, providing the opportunity to produce several of my existing works, How to Leave Adolescence at 30, Life Monologues (2003), and More Work Than a Puppy (2005 & 2013).
Performing a one-woman show at 55 is completely different than performing it at 35. The brain, she doesn’t work the way she once did. I’m certain that the script is locked in, I’ve got it 100%, and then I attempt to walk and talk at the same time and quickly realize that my mind/body connection is almost non-existent. Rehearsing the show has been a marathon. It has been challenging, but also incredibly rewarding as I flex muscles that have been dormant for two decades. I can’t wait to share it with you.
