Have you directed before? Are you interested in directing? Perhaps you are interested in learning how to direct or have already started the path through courses, shadowing, or mentorship.

The Northumberland Players are looking for volunteer directors or trainees for the 2026-2027 season. The Reading Committee has selected a short list of plays for the Firehall (including a pair of one-acts plays) and the Best Western. We are also looking for a director for the annual Youth Theatre show (not yet selected) and our musical as well.

Our first call requires directors to apply to be short-listed for our season. Your assignment will depend upon experience and availability of shows. At this point you are merely stating you are interested. After your initial email, you will be sent information regarding the tentative dates of shows, possible titles, and the selection process. The Board will be provided a slate of shows and directors for the Firehall, Best Western, Youth Show, and Christmas Concert. Those interested in directing the major musical will be asked to submit a proposal which may include a presentation. Please do not submit proposals at this time. The goal is to start the conversation, match directors with plays, and provide opportunities for new directors to shadow, train, and be mentored. In order to direct, you must be a member of the Northumberland Players.
