Audition Details

We are casting for the parts of MARY and FRANK.

Mary (Female, 40): A successful but deeply unhappy doctor having an affair with a married man, Mike. She is haunted by the decision she made at 14 to give up a baby for adoption.

Frank (Male, 45): Teresa’s husband. He responded to a singles ad placed by Teresa, but they later realized neither had described themselves honestly. The couple runs a vitamin supplements company, though Frank dreams of leaving it behind to run a pub.

How to Audition:

  • Auditions will be held in a group setting.
  • Actors will read from provided sides.

We welcome actors of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels. Casting will be based on performance fit and ensemble chemistry.

All auditions, rehearsals, and performances will take place at the Firehall Theatre.

Monday April 13th, 20th and 27th; Wednesday April 15th, and 22nd: 7pm to 9pm

May and June schedule will be discussed upon casting


About the Play

The Memory of Water is a comedy-drama about three estranged sisters—Teresa, Mary, and Catherine—who reunite for their mother’s funeral. As they confront their conflicting and unreliable memories of childhood, buried sibling rivalries, guilt, and long-held secrets surface. The play explores how the past continues to shape their present lives.


Character Breakdown

Vi (Female, 60s/70s, appears at 32): The mother with Alzheimer’s, recently deceased. 

Mary (Female, 40s): The middle sister. A doctor. Emotionally fragile.

Teresa (Female, 40s): The eldest sister. She is resentful, and protective,

Catherine (Female, 30s): The youngest sister. “party girl” who struggles with loneliness.

Mike (Male, 40s): Mary’s lover. He is shallow and deceptive.

Frank (Male, 40s): Teresa’s husband. Bored and loyal.
