Auditions: “Mamma Mia!”

We are excited to announce auditions for our upcoming production of Mamma Mia! 

Mamma Mia! is a vibrant, feel-good celebration of love, laughter, and the unforgettable music of ABBA. With this production, starting right at the beginning of auditions, the goal is simple…to have fun! 

Audition Dates: Sep 7, 8, & 9. Callbacks Sep 10.

Rehearsals and Show Dates

  • Rehearsal days are Sunday (afternoons) and Wednesday (evenings) beginning October 8, 2025.
  • Performances will run on Feb 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28 and March 1.
  • Attendance is required for rehearsals, tech week (Feb 15-19) and all performance dates. Please ensure you are able to commit to these before auditioning.

Audition Requirements & Information

  • All individuals 18 years and older are invited to audition. No prior experience is required.
  • All auditions will take place at the Firehall Theatre, 213 2nd Street, Cobourg ON on September 7, 1-6pm, September 8, 6-9pm, and September 9, 6-9pm. We are committed to making auditions welcoming and accessible to all. If you require any accommodations to participate in auditions, please let us know on your application.
  • Callbacks will be held on September 10, 6-9pm. More information will be shared with those who receive a callback.
  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your audition time slot to check-in and get settled.
  • If you have a headshot and résumé, please include them with your application or bring them to the audition.
  • Please prepare one of the solo pieces provided according to your first choice (see “Mamma Mia Audition Material” for sheet music and accompaniment tracks). 
  • You will be considered for all roles. For example, if you choose to audition for Sophie and do not get cast for that particular role, we will consider you for other lead roles and ensemble.
  • Familiarity with ABBA’s music is highly encouraged!

What to Expect:

  • Auditions will include solo and harmony singing.
  • At the audition, you will be asked to sing the solo number that you have chosen from the list provided, with the provided accompaniment track. Please use the track provided as they are in the proper key. 
  • Harmony parts will be taught in small groups at the audition.
  • For those auditioning for the ensemble, please do not worry if a note or two in the audition piece feels out of range – just do the best you can. We need all voice types in the ensemble. 
  • There will be a dance component at the audition. Please wear attire that you can move freely and that doesn’t hinder movement. If you do not have practice shoes, socks are fine.
