About the Play
“Looped” is a dark comedy set in a Los Angeles sound studio in the summer of 1965. The fading but formidable Tallulah Bankhead arrives to re-record a line of dialogue for her final film. What begins as a routine session unravels into a fierce, funny, and revealing battle between the old-school star and the quiet film editor assigned to the task.
Based on a real event, the play offers a rare glimpse into the life of a Hollywood icon on the edge.
Characters
Tallulah Bankhead (63)
A legendary actress with a sharp tongue, deep Southern drawl, and unstoppable presence. Outrageous, unapologetic, and increasingly vulnerable beneath the surface.
Accent required. Research encouraged (many clips available online).
Danny Miller (Late 30s to Mid 50s)
A quiet, private, bookish film editor with a hidden past. Sharp, tense, and emotionally restrained.
Steve (age flexible)
The silent sound engineer. A blue-collar worker with minimal lines, mostly seen in silhouette.
