Cottagers and Indians by Drew Hayden Taylor will be the first production of our 2023-2024 season, playing September 15 – October 1, 2023, at the Firehall Theatre.

An Anishnawbe man, Arthur Copper, decides to repopulate the lakes of his home Territory with manoomin, or wild rice, much to the disapproval of the local non-Indigenous cottagers, in particular the formidable Maureen Poole. Based on real life events in Ontario’s Kawartha Lakes region.

Audition Information

Role for 1 female, non indigenous, 50s-70s.

Cold reading.  Some research into the subject matter of Cottagers and Indians would be beneficial.
